Alfred S. Sife is an Associate Library Professor at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Currently, he is the Director of the Sokoine National Agricultural Library(SNAL) which is also a university library for SUA. As a Director, he is responsible for efficient and effective planning, co-ordination, development and delivery of appropriate library services. He provides strategic direction and leadership for the Library and the development of its services and staff. Until June 2014,Professor Sife served as the Deputy Director of the Institute of Continuing Education at SUA. He holds PhD and master degrees in information studies from the University of Dar es Salaam and received a bachelor degree (B.Sc. Forestry) from SUA. Sife’s research, teaching and consultancy interests centers mainly on information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D), scientometrics and bibliometrics, information literacy, records management and archival administration, information architecture, rural livelihoods, research methods as well as gender and development. He has also carried out a number of consultancy works including training workshops on e-resources, records management, and gender as well as formulating policies and strategies.
